Baie de l’Embouchure Beach (Coconut Grove)

Baie de l’Embouchure is a shallow coastal bay and natural beach area on the eastern side of Saint Martin, located between Oyster Pond and the Atlantic Ocean. The shoreline includes sandy shallows and small sandy islands exposed at low tide, with mangrove fringes to the west and views toward neighboring islands to the east.

The bay is one of the most serene and picturesque spots in Saint Martin, and it is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.  The bay boasts crystal clear waters that are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Its diverse marine life includes sea turtles, colorful fish, and corals. The bay is also home to a variety of bird species, including egrets, herons, and pelicans, making it a bird-watcher’s paradise.

The bay is also known for its varied marine habitats and shallow water conditions that are suitable for wading, kayaking and nature observation, and it attracts wind- and kite-surfers when conditions are favorable. The setting is largely natural and open, with limited built-in facilities, and access may be by foot or small boat through adjacent roads or trails.

Baie Lucas (Lucas Bay Beach)

Tucked along the quiet eastern shoreline near Oyster Pond, Lucas Bay Beach offers a refreshing escape into one of St. Martin’s most unspoiled coastal settings. With its wide-open views, gentle breezes, and natural, untamed beauty, this hidden stretch of coastline feels worlds away from the busier parts of the island. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, take in the sound of the waves, and truly disconnect.

Lucas Bay Beach is a peaceful, romantic retreat. The expansive shoreline and minimal crowds create a sense of privacy that’s perfect for long walks, quiet conversations, or simply enjoying the scenery together. Whether you visit in the soft light of morning or as the sun begins to dip lower in the sky, the atmosphere is calm, intimate, and effortlessly beautiful.

Families will appreciate the open space and natural surroundings, offering plenty of room for children to explore and play. While the Atlantic side can be more energetic, the beach provides a wonderful setting for picnics, beachcombing, and enjoying time together in a more natural environment.
